Michael O'Malley BFA Thesis Spring 2011
From the Darkroom to the Classroom
My Thesis has come to embody the way in which I learn and see the world. Through separation and reflection I believe I am able to edit down my experiences and re-present forms of evidence. The work I have made for my thesis acts as a direct metaphor, a direct reflection, of the way I learn, teach and create. As an artist I believe I edit down information to present the most pertinent components that inform the viewer on what it is I might be expecting him/her to take away, however, my initiative is to present work that allows the viewer to think for themselves and to draw connections through actively learning and reflecting with the objects. Through acknowledging the layers of separation I am beginning to learn how to draw connections with the world
around me.
