Through the quilt making vernacular I have created a body of work using items given to me from my family, allowing this work to serve as artifact of document of their lives. While clothing, curtains, and bedding stand in for people, this material is embedded with their thoughts, experience, rest, and ideas. Together these items create a visual and conceptual landscape of my family and our history. Through the use of embroidery, I reference topography and map making, ideas that help to understand the framework of my family, ups and downs, connections and misconnctions, and where I fit into the world.
