Remy Charnett BFA Illustration Thesis Spring 2018
I‘ve created a comic prologue in which a apprehensive heir named Bazyl, witnesses their power hungry mother Sylvia, conspiring to seize total power from the monarch, their father Yarik.
My comic functions as a prologue draft which introduces the main characters, themes, and conflicts. I will ultimately pitch to a young adult comic book publisher. My illustration and visual development skills are emphasized within a historical fantasy narrative that reflects contemporary concerns, such as the resistance against a dysfunctional, negligent
government.
Desiring inclusion in comics, I reimagined historical narratives with queer characters by developing a more sexually and gender fluid world. A world in which the depiction of monarchies and revolutions, themes of power, social unrest, coming of age, and family dynamics are woven together.
