VERGE

Even though fashion is change, it’s happening at too rapid of a pace. The rise of fast fashion has disrupted the fashion system. As a reaction to the increasing rate of trends, I sought to use the opposition of slow fashion in a different way by focusing on the consumption and practice, rather than just production. Both of the terms “slow” and “fast” fashion are heavily reliant on the production of the garment, while the practice is an important factor that is overlooked in their existing definitions. How can the consumption of fashion be slowed down through practical methods? Using the philosophy and poetry of the Tao Te Ching, VERGE is a concept clothing brand that seeks to present a slower pace of garment consumption through slow fashion concepts. VERGE entails a brand identity, five piece capsule collection and a lookbook. VERGE is the first step to make the shift from the wasteful practice of fast fashion to a more practical and thoughtful fashion practice.
