Myah Wyse BFA Sculpture Thesis Spring 2024
This Thesis installation is a living archive of functional pieces and ephemera that explore the design process and building of objects. These objects exist in both a functional and conceptual way, serving everyday uses within a living space, yet also act as a structural framework for holding personal narrative and experience. This active body of work is made up of materials that reflect various stages of being acted upon, where material captures the trace of my body’s presence at a particle moment in time and space – a living journal that communicates through marks and texture, not words. Allowing process marks to exist within this work points to the physical labor and demands of the body that often go unseen within handmade objects, and bring alive the methods of fabrication through visual traces.
