Strength in Weakness
I was diagnosed with a severe case of anorexia nervosa when I was 16. My journey since then has been an incredibly difficult one, and now that I’m healthier, I feel the need to speak about it. Through establishing connections and allowing for vulnerability, I found that delivering messages of hardship is not only personally rewarding, but offers others encouragement.
This project attempts to shed light on an often hush-hush, taboo topic because the general public has a difficult time recognizing that eating disorders are much like an addiction or a medical problem. Victims are often seen as vain or superficial and many people are often unaware this is a widespread epidemic that needs attention, prevention and encouragement for recovery.
