This thesis outlines my artwork, which is entitled “Systema.” Systema seeks to provide meaningful aesthetic experiences as described by John Dewey, in supporting his mission to reinfuse the perceptual value of art in the experience of everyday living. Systema brings a community together around these meaningful experiences, in social processes which he defines as ‘the rites of passage.’ Systema supports a new perception of objects and their relations, through dynamic transformation.
