Death is so threatening and terrifying that one cannot look at it but through a veil. It is too excruciating to look at face on. For someone who must labor daily to make sacred space in which they can exist for themselves, in themselves, the threat of death is a constant. This is not just the threat that they might kill themselves, but that the sacred space necessary for their existence is constantly under threat of being extinguished.

This piece offers a chance to contemplate a person’s state of vulnerability, isolation, and death. It is a movement from a place of suffocation into open, natural space.
