This thesis determines a relationship between depression and art. To achieve this several skyscape paintings were created, with looking towards other artists who have been depressed; particularly that of Andy Warhol, Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, and Claude Monet, as well as other factors that have influence; including desire, productivity, the generalities placed upon the artist, perception, and using art as therapy. The research comes from books, bibliographies, articles, and personal experience. This thesis is important for not only a personal contextualization, but also to bring to attention some of the possible symptoms of depression that would otherwise be unnoticed.
