Jason Gabbert MFA Creative Writing Thesis 2023

A text in three parts, exploring belief, lineage, mortality, and legacy. Because memory is so very much more complex than a single genre could speak, I have utilized a variety of genres to rediscover my experiences. The first portion of this text sees my life through nonfiction (if that is a real thing) autobiographical writing, the second portion explores reoccurring themes through short fiction, and the third portion searches for deeper understandings or misunderstandings through poetry. Though these three genres appear in their own parts, they tend to blur around the edges and seep into one another.
