Being Half and Whole is an exploration of my relationship as an identical twin, and how the dependence we have on each other affects my other relationships. After my boyfriend and my sister left to Colorado and Italy at the same time, I became aware of how reliant I was on both of them. The presence and absence of them was found in the traces and memories that they left behind; a single sock, an indentation in a pillow, and the memory of an awkward hug. Through the lens of writers, thinkers and artists, along with materials, pairs and space, I explore these traces and attempt to better understand how I exist in the world as a pair, but also how I exist on my own.
