The handling of an object by its maker and user imbues the object with an aura.  Surrounding ourselves with these objects keeps us connected to our past histories and the past histories of others. These objects serve as micro-monuments and living relics of our time spent growing with the physical world.

When someone dies they not only leave behind physical things, but also lingering sensory experiences that are small indications that they were once here. These representational vessels are spiritual in nature and are part of a ritual in remembrance and acknowledgement.

My work considers and values these small things. The process of photogravure mimics memory, imparts care and directly references the conceptual ideas embedded in the work.
