Water is one of four elements used in Chinese medicine to categorize the nature of an object. I have formed a deep connection to water from my upbringing in Beijing and exposure to Chinese medicine. For the past year I have explored this element in its three states; solid, liquid and gas.

The starting point of this project is my affection towards water’s simple and overwhelming beauty and the complexity of humankind’s ideologies surrounding it. My memories of my mother’s work in Chinese medicine and the influence of water within that discipline have led me here to use water as a vehicle of enticement for others into sensation and beauty.
