Nyph and Their New Nook is a 40 page self ended author illustrated picture book dummy. Aimed at readers 4-8 years old, this picture book captures the whimsy and love of a seedling by the name of Nyph who seeks a new home. In the face of unexpected adversity, this story reminds young readers to stay determined and to hold on to hope through stormy situations, for unforeseen friendships and found family will root you back home.
After losing their cozy stump by a terrible hail storm, Nyph embarks on a journey to find a new abode. On their journey, they traverse through a sunflower patch, a lilac tree, and a blackberry bramble, making lifelong friends with Flooff the seedling, Rumi the moth, and Huckle the fairy. From each friend, Nyph receives an item that helps them on their journey, consisting of a gingko leaf umbrella, a sunflower seed vest, and a chestnut shell helmet.
But despite Nyph’s persistent wandering and gifts from their wonderful friends, home was nowhere in sight; everything seemed bleak. When all was thought to be lost, Nyph’s friends were there to catch them at their weakest, showering Nyph with encouragement and affection. Suddenly, the gingko leaf Nyph was given begins to glow and transforms into a new house. Home was closer than they had imagined, grounded in their newfound friendships and affection.
