Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series 2009

PNCA and Reed College co-sponsor a lecture featuring innovative designer and artist Lucy Orta, whose work over the past 20 years addresses ideas about social interaction and our collective human relationship to the world around us. Orta will also be a visiting artist at PNCA engaged with MFA students in studios and classrooms.

Orta is a founding member of the “Man and Humanity” Master in Industrial Design for the Design Academy, Eindhoven (2002), a pioneering master program which stimulates socially driven and sustainable design solutions, alternative systems, and products; and was invested as the first Rootstein Hopkins Chair at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts, London (2002–07).

In 1993, Lucy Orta and her partner, Jorge Orta, founded Studio Orta in central Paris.
