MFA ACD Lecture: Elmar Heimbach

Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Multidisciplinary artist and designer Elmar Heimbach brings his inspirations to an MFA in Applied Craft and Design lecture as part of the 2011-2012 Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

When asked what inspires him, Elmar Heimbach says, “Everything.” For instance: the phenomena of perception, the psychology of creativity, the renaissance of materials since the ’80s, even seemingly unnoticed everyday things we take for granted, like language, light, growth, patterns, mechanics. Elmar materializes his concepts and ideas with furniture, woodwork, metal work, printing, photography, graphics, drawing and architecture. He recently transformed a politically desanctified church ruin in Wollseifen, Germany into a space for silence and peace. April 11, 2012.
