Tristan Matlock BFA General Fine Arts Thesis Spring 2021
Movement Between Places and Within Them
This thesis takes the form of hand drawn and CAD rendered proposals set within the specific context of a park located in Chester, California in Plumas County. Chester Park is a space that hosts baseball games and 4th of July Craft Fairs. A forest and a river tuck the park in on its outer edges from town. The planning process for new features and activities has been postponed due to the Covid-19 virus and has stayed in the preliminary stages, extending a longer timeframe for me as a student to exist within. The time incapsulated in this story reaches back to my childhood and at one point meets in time with my grandparent’s childhood. I attempt to connect this movement through space and time with the places landscape architect Lawrence Halprin lived and worked.
