Night-wielder
Night-wielder is a 32-page graphic novel book dummy that tells the story of Clara. Night Wielder is a contemporary low- fantasy story. Inspired by places such as Edinburgh Scotland. In Night-Wielder there are two different factions of magic. There are the day-wielders that wield day magic and find themselves in the majority. Then they are the night wielders. Due to an ancient feud and myth find themselves as outcasts in their society. Upon entering the Celeste academy of magic Clara soon finds herself isolated when it is publicly revealed that she is a night wielder. Through the narrative, she has to come face to face with her insecurities to reconnect with her family.
This project has an emphasis on family. I particularly wanted to focus on the relationships that you build between siblings especially when you are close and how major changes can influence those bonds. Clara has three older brothers and has been chasing after them her whole life. When she is finally old enough to attend the same school as them she finds herself thrown into a spiral of self-doubt and loathing. With Night-wielder, I aim to tell a story for teenage girls about family and what it means to accept and love yourself.
