This project involves an illustrated zine displaying what anybody needs to know about my family restaurant, Ha & VL. Tucked in the streets of Southeast 82nd, the Vietnamese restaurant has been publicized in sources such as Willamette Week, Portland Monthly, and Eater. Due to the new customers, I have found that many people come in with questions about the food we serve and the establishment itself. Thus, I saw a need to create a zine that educates our upcoming clientele by using illustration to enrich the experience of our noodle soups. By sharing information about the history of Ha & VL, the people who run it, and the cuisine served there, I want to assist customers in learning and understanding ourselves. As my own personal goal, it is a demonstration of how I combine illustration and design.
