Sarah Peters MFA Visual Studies Thesis 2020
So, below
So, below is a large accumulative collection of found objects that are treated with black spray paint that precariously create an oozing landscape that emerges out of the walls and crevices of the gallery space. This dark cave of transformed objects displays familiar everyday objects of consumer waste. The elevated pile of trash so precariously balanced on each other draws the viewer in to come to terms with the fragility of inner and outer worlds. Within this analysis I will elaborate on the theoretic framework I am thinking and making in, the art historical lineage I situate myself in, the reasoning behind formal choices, and the interruption of my graduate studies through a global pandemic and how that has changed my practice.
