Its About Time: a design based inquiry
I am busy and frustrated. Uniquely so as a woman and as a mother. I have tried several approaches to manage my time and all have their unique benefits. I’ve learned that I’m not alone. Many women and men relate to these issues of being discouragingly busy. Life is crazy full. That fullness creates conflict and challenge. There must be another way to help besides ‘doing more with less’ that isn’t time management. If we want to use time with more intention, what is needed is not more time management approaches. What is needed is something deeper that helps us to gain awareness of our narrative and reclaim our choice of relationship with time. By doing so, I and we are less likely to default merely to “I’m busy.” It’s About Time is a design-based inquiry that challenges us to become aware of our relationship with time. Through design, facilitated conversation, and participatory art we can begin to become aware of our “time” choices in order to cultivate a more mindful relationship with time.
