The Shaman in front of the installation core-the padlocked metal cage Workstation performing ritual, but with the clear awareness that he is in the threshold between charlatanism, and shamanism, between the World, and Nature. The “umbilical” felt cords he wears on his conductor coat are tied into one big knot. It is a ritual of Knothood (word pun courtesy of Linden How). The Shaman’s hat on Shaman’s knee is another pun of classic idioms, such as “the hat makes the man,” since in this theatrical context, “the Shaman makes the hat.”
