ManSpreader /LadySquisher was a performance in which I made crude sculptures out of cardboard tubes that affected the space my body took up when sitting in public spaces. Both sculptures mirror the way I sit comfortably in private and awkwardly in public. I tested these sculptures out in public in the hopes of having conversation with others and perhaps participation. There weren’t any takers, but I consider this piece a victory because I was asserting myself and my body in a public forum which is unusual for me.
