My project is focused on the proposition that an image can spur the viewer to take action, and that quick action is critically necessary today in order to protect sensitive species and other threatened parts of the natural environment. Building on the rich heritage of biological illustration and field studies in the media, I am creating a series of images regarding symbiotic native Oregon species, with the goal of generating interest in protecting those species and the environment they thrive within. It is important to be conscious of what we create in our ever-changing cultural marketplace. Being aware of the message we are sending to the world is the key to changing it for the better, for all.
