footnotes (recording of Raechel Anne Jolie reading from Rust Belt Femme)

“footnotes,” part of Ashley’s current /ˈpro͞oviNG ˌɡround[s]/ series, is a multimedia installation that consists of “elevated” footnotes conjured from critical autotheoretical musings printed on charmeuse, georgette and linen; single channel videos with spoken word and bluegrass music; curated stories, songs and archives including a book, bright leaf tobacco leaves and a ghostlike photograph printed on chiffon; and discarded and disrupted footnotes, historical newspaper articles and archives.

“Trash,” as a "Reclamation of Poor White Trash,” is a repossession of the pejorative term given to folx who exist outside of ideal white upper-class norms.

As this footnote, Raechel Anne Jolie reads a passage from her book Rust Belt Femme.
