My project contains three objects titled: Layers, Transformation, and Becoming Visible.  I use a pattern I invented, hexagon tumbler, with different making applications.  The design creates a double texture pattern by making continuous folds along the entire piece of fabric.  This project is an exploration of the idea of having no “wrong side,” and uses muslin as the material base with the geometric language of points and lines.  My process is directly informed by the traditional craft of hand sewing and the foundations existing between my family’s traditional craftsmanship and the discussion of objects that have a purpose or function. This unique pattern has a meticulous attraction that pleases the eye and relaxes the mind, and this plan evokes ancient smocking and quilting techniques. Once light transmits through the translucent cloth and encounters the tessellated fabric, a new pattern is visible made of shadows.
