Like many who call the Pacific Northwest home, the American Pokeweed plant is not native. As a transplant, it has thrived in its new land. The berries glisten a deep juicy purple, splayed mathematically around a dark pink stem. The berries, which look alluring enough to eat, are poisonous if you were to do so. In many cultures, its roots are harvested for medicinal purposes. The pokeweed is seductively dangerous.

In my studio work, I have created a line of twenty-five botanical pattern designs for fabric, intended to be used within the home. This line is inspired by plants of the Pacific Northwest. The fabric is targeted at creative women who would ideally use it to craft something for their home, bringing the outside in.
