The Cocklebur Archive

The Cocklebur Archive is a collection of experimental poetry and prose embodying and contextualizing the concepts that serve as the foundation of Jackson’s artistic practice. There are 15 copies in the total edition. The publication is 8.5 × 11 inches, coil bound, and contains 19 poems, 6 of which have unique letterpress embossments. Language oscillates between sparse, minimal configurations and dense, descriptive masses of prose that lack punctuation or formality, but capture the saturated imagery and unique vocabulary embedded in the history of the family deer camp. On the back of each page is a single line of morse code originating from a long list of around 50 significant GPS coordinate locations marked by family members.
