Homecoming Lecture: Samuel Rowlett '02

PNCA is pleased to announce Samuel Rowlett ’02 as this year’s Homecoming Speaker.

Drawing parallels between explorer and artist, Samuel Rowlett builds objects that articulate with the physicality of the body and utilize the materiality and concepts of studio practice as a method of engagement with the outside world. Often attached backpack-like to his torso, his work becomes an extension of the artist’s body, exploring geographical relationships, and formal gestures through mobile-site performances. Through a multidisciplinary approach, Rowlett often filters sculpture, performance, video and photography through the lens of painting and drawing.
