Born in San Bernardino in 1902, pioneering ceramic artist Laura Andreson was a prominent figure in early American ceramics. Inspired by Japanese techniques, she was one of the earliest wheel-throwing artist on the west coast and one of the very first to embrace porcelain. At the time of her death in 1999, she was the Director Emeritus of Ceramics at UCLA. In addition to the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Craft, her work can be found in New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Mingei International Museum in San Diego, and a number of other notable collections. professional experience: |
