At the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in the 1930s, he was a teacher of ceramics, metalwork and jewelry making, and his course “Jewelry Design and Making” had a lasting impact on the modernist jewelry first produced in Los Angeles and then elsewhere including through Sam Kramer, who became a famous innovative New York jeweler.
