Notes or Bio

Rose Cabat is probably best known for her porcelain “Feelies”—round and ovoid vases with narrow necks and highly tactile custom-mixed glazes. The satisfying simplicity and balance of these works and others have earned her an international reputation. She has been exhibited domestically and internationally, and is included the prestigious collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

At the request of the U.S. Information Service, she and her husband Erni Cabat traveled in the 1970s to Tehran and Brazil to teach a number of workshops on craft and creativity.

Professional experience:

1954: Helped set up Tucson Art Center
(now Tucson Museum of Art), AZ
1972: Assisted in designing and marketing
handcrafts at Tehran School of Social
