How can it be that I can sell legal cannabis taxed by the government while people sit behind bars within the same state for cannabis convictions?
When you hear a state has legal cannabis you don’t image people still facing harsh consequences for cannabis consumption. This is not the case, because cannabis is still federally illegal people are at risk. They can lose their children to child protective services, their health insurance, their housing, immigration opportunities, or even their basic human rights.
Federal laws need to be put into place to prevent people from loosing their civil liberties for. If it is legal in a state there shouldn’t even be anyone in prison for cannabis charges.
