Good G-D; a Study in Gold

This series is called “Good G-D; a Study in Gold.” Originally, I had proposed to make a series of zines, but ended up making these paintings instead after returning home for break a few months ago. The work I have here is a series of non-objective, black and gold paintings with written text on the wall, which function as both processed-based work that helps me relax and focus, and also as a spiritual expression. I realize that much of this series is very enigmatic, as Good G-D is personal, spiritual, and identity-focused. I think the indirectness and ambiguity of non-objective work helps with approachability for audience, and I am not really ready to be overtly political that usually lends itself to a heavy handedness I want to avoid. As a Jew, non-objective techniques also fulfills some of the need not to represent G-d as an infinite and indefinable being.
