Mother to Earth: Josh’s Story is a four minute short film about my experiences with the game Earthbound Beginnings, or Mother in Japan. This glimpse into core parts of my experience with this game act as a reflection and a context of the events leading up to creating the film Mother to Earth, which is a feature length documentary about the history of said game. Funded successfully on Kickstarter this past summer, Mother to Earth the film catalogues the people and events surrounding the game’s English translation, which took 25 years to officially release. The larger film will be released in December of 2018, with Josh’s Story appearing as part of the special features.
