This project uses elements of digital photography and installation to formally present food in a new and creative ways. Using a presentation consisting of layered transparency film and ink jet printing, bold and vivid images of uniform food are enlarged and repeated to highlight the underlying variation and sometimes overlooked qualities. The intent of this project is to present viewers with relatable subject matter that comments on its many formal qualities following a common aesthetic of highly saturated colors and sharp detail. The images are reproduced in a large scale that allows the viewer to confront their favorite snack in a new and playful fashion. The installation includes an interactive still-life photo studio for audience members to enact the artist’s image making process by playing with food. The overall experience is one that hopes to bring a smile to viewers’ faces and fight against the common misconception that we shouldn’t play with our food!
