The Role of Maintenance Labor and Alternative Conceptions of Productivity in Community-Wide Interstitiality

Using construction, landscaping, textile and adhesive materials, Maintaining (Richmond) invites viewers to engage with multifaceted histories and realities of the American South and, by implication, the country as a whole. This site-specific environment features actions of reclamation, repair, reconstruction and destruction to examine what and how we – as communities, cities and society – are building, maintaining and memorializing.
