La Vie En Rose

As a queer male in America I have experienced what it means to be marginalized. Like those who are considered “other,” I want the rights and privileges enjoyed by the dominant society. I embrace queer aesthetics and create art that is visible, loud, and pushes at the normative edge to engender change.

My methods include using bundling, referencing the layers of complexity faced by the members of the LGBT community. I use pink in my color code to visually convey the problems faced by those existing on the borderline. My use of throw aways and the discarded echoes the experiences of those who feel undervalued, unappreciated, unrecognized, and unaccepted. My queer aesthetic asks that society has the courage and strength to accept everyone, as my art critiques the system politically, and privately
