Part autobiographical, part research-based, My Boyfriend Calls Me a Feminist Princess compares the performance of female comedians working on body politics to female painters who are addressing the same issues. This thesis uses personal narrative of experiencing the need to obtain the perfect body through the sport of swimming in my thesis project, Mediocre Swimmer.

This paper discusses humor and self-deprecation to speculate how comedic relief can supply a critical and healthier outlook on life in contrast to standardized versions of female beauty.
