I Like to Close My Eyes When I Walk Sometimes
This paper serves as an anthology about the work also titled I like to close my eyes when I walk sometimes. The work consists of four parts: a collection of screen prints, five stacks of newsprint sheets, a video, and pins—all untitled and referred to by their materials or formal qualities.
This is a modular collection. The intention of this paper is to guide the viewer through the varied aspects of research, process and aesthetics that form the network of I like to close my eyes when I walk sometimes. Like the work, this document is broken up into many small parts that can be read in a multitude of ways.
The first section, to make free is a series of introductory texts that describe my relationship to the work, how it all came to be, and the ways in which I wonder about walking and making.
Following is direction, a chapter dedicated to artists and thinkers that have influenced me in my journey to bring I like to close my eyes when I walk sometimes into fruition.
The third part of this paper titled, to walk details the formal qualities and concepts of each piece in I like to close my eyes when I walk sometimes.
I end with my self-truths.
