Pink Apocalypse: Paintings on Vulnerability

I present the way vulnerability acts as inspiration in a series of paintings presented as my M.F.A. thesis in Visual Studies. Partially, this vulnerability is due to the socially limited understanding of my identity as a mother despite the wealth of experience I find in the resource of this personal experience. These feelings of vulnerability also arise from the uncertainty about our future on this planet with a broken eco-system. In conclusion, I find that vulnerability is a source for recognizing a shared vulnerability with others and through that comes the necessity for care, compassion, and kindness in order to endure uncertainty. With the help of paint as metaphor for the levels of vulnerability I experience, I develop conversations and compositions that display a dance between loss of control and adaptation.
