I am a media artist. I would say I am an animator, but that’s the medium in which I work to make my finished product. In the wheat fields of Eastern Washington, I am a filmmaker. In the homes of Bo and Ryan, I am a radio journalist, recording conversations with microphones and a mixer, prying open a story with inquiry (and maybe a six-pack). And in the library, I am a researcher doing my best to place what I’ve captured in context – in art, history, and within the human brain. The result is an animated short, designed and informed by the amalgamation of my research methods, featuring the voices of those depicted in the story – in this case, my current film entitled Deers.
