For my thesis I set out to create a series of handmade books, containing writings of my own based on personal experiences. Much like Plath and Swift by writing about events and people in my life, from my own perspective, and creating pieces to let out into the world I am creating a mythos based around my idea of myself, my relationships, and my life. What I have built is not just a body of work but also a well tailored version of my life to be set out into the world, and consumed by people who may or may not know me, which is an incredibly empowering act. I have taken control over myself, my image, and the narrative of my life and have decided what to expose, what to conceal, or alter. I have created a separate entity, a mythical idea of who Stefanie Papaiacovou is.
