The Recollect is an interactive, digital publication featuring creative writing by women. The Recollect sought to reestablish new standards of storytelling in digital publishing by using two devices — visual writing and nonlinear storytelling. Along with those devices, experience design, intimacy, and shareability were goals for how the content was formed, experienced, and accessed. This document reflects on the current landscape of digital publishing, the target audience and goals for The Recollect, the context of visual writing and nonlinear storytelling in culture, the solution utilizing experiential design, intimate storytelling, and technical shareability, and how The Recollect was conceptualized and carried out.
