This is an essay about the mechanisms of control and resistance in our time of pervasive digital technologies. It asks what strategies of resistance are available when we acknowledge that transgression has irrevocably been subsumed by information age capitalism. The emergent philosophy of accelerationism presents one possible approach. In this essay I investigate its origins and compare its conflicting branches of thought. Accelerationism of all stripes is concerned with hastening technological development. Accordingly, many accelerationist thinkers analyze and create science fiction as a tool for gaming out possible futures. I illustrate parallels between aspects of accelerationist thinking and contemporary artists positioning themselves as fictional businesses to incite dialogue around commodity culture.
