The wilderness is my sanctuary from modernity, I find myself reflecting on nature continually throughout my daily life. This body of work centers on the concept of photographing my emotional and experiential recollections of me encounters with wilderness. Through the use of various materials including shower curtains, garbage bags, black spray painted tin foil, butcher paper, and other textural representations of the landscape of nature I have created photographs that represent my expeditions into the wild with my father. I have chosen not to represent these images through directly photographing the landscape due to my reluctance to compound to the drudge of images that are prevalent in today’s society. I instead have decided to use the camera as a metaphorical device akin to the paintbrush and the hands of a sculptor to represent my emotional experiences.
