Micah Fischer BFA Printmaking Thesis Fall 2013
Rarely is a personal Christian faith represented in progressive contemporary art. In the environment here at Pacific Northwest College of Art, faith in general is a topic avoided although it is something that each individual possesses. In this thesis, I utilize bookmaking, etching, monotype, letterpress, personal handwriting and abstract imagery to act as an open door to a discussion of God and faith. I have chosen an honest and transparent format of sharing my own personal experiences, prayers, struggles, and devotion to allow my audience to find a more personal connection to Christianity. Through this process I have grown in my dependence on God while fostering a unique dialogue in a secular setting.
