Sheep have long been a domestic species used for food and clothing, but much like dogs and cats as the times changed people no longer re-lied on the sheep for utilitarian purposes. Some people adopted them as pets and began breeding them for personality or a specific look. Several pet specific breeds took off, those with shorter, rounder faces being the most popular. It took a remarkably short period of time for the morphology of one particular line to change radically. As the face became less sheep-like their popularity grew among pet enthusiasts. Despite being a high maintenance animal, due to its inability to bite and chew up food, owners claim it is by far the best pet they have ever owned.
