Abstract
This paper, The Pages of Books, explores various aspects of books, from the definition of the term ‘book’ to theories surrounding the book as space. It does this in order to show that books provide the reader with an intimate private space that stimulates the mind and imagination. I argue that this elicits a physical response in the reader, causing the reader to form an intimate relationship with books.
The work that accompanies this essay, The Pages of Books: the Tom Sawyer Edition, explores my personal relationship with a specific book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.
