Generative Skill Sets & Species Survival

In a world of accelerating transformation and systemic instability, humans of the 21st century will face unprecedented challenges posed by nature, and more tragically, humankind itself. This capstone paper aims to explore possible future scenarios, and identify the key components for surviving (and even flourishing) in the 21st century. Ultimately, humanity’s success or failure will be determined by its ability to learnand adapt in playful and inventive ways, using generative skill sets that allow for the creation of new options. In the end, the opportunities available to and accessible by humankind will determine its future. This theory is illustrated through a speculative art object that represents one possible option
for transitioning from humanity’s present state to a preferred future.
